Kate Ryan (born Katrien Verbeeck on 22 July 1980[1]) is a Belgian World Music Award winner. She began her singing career in 2001 and later found fame with a string of dance hits. These included covers, mostly of Mylène Farmer and France Gall, such as “Désenchantée”, “Libertine”, and “Ella, elle l’a” as well as new material. Ryan represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with “Je t’adore” coming in 12th place in the semi-final.

Robert Sylvester Kelly (born January 8, 1967), better known by his stage name R. Kelly, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Often referred to as King of R&B. Kelly began performing during the late 1980s and debuted in 1992 with the group Public Announcement. In 1993, Kelly went solo with the album 12 Play. He is known for a collection of major hit singles including “Bump n’ Grind”, “Your Body’s Callin’”, “I Believe I Can Fly”, “Gotham City”, “Ignition (Remix)”, “If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time”, “The World’s Greatest”, “I’m a Flirt”, and the hip-hopera “Trapped in the Closet”. In 1998, Kelly won three Grammy Awards for “I Believe I Can Fly”.

Sandra Ann Lauer, stage name Sandra (born 18 May 1962) is a German pop singer, who dominated European charts with eighteen top 20 hits during the 1980s and early 1990s, with the help of her then-husband and musical partner, Michael Cretu. During a brief height of popularity, she even outsold Madonna in a number of countries around the world. At the start of her career, from 1979 to 1984, she was the lead singer of the female disco/dance trio Arabesque, which had a massive following in Japan and Russia.
Subsequently a solo performer, she had her first international #1 hit-single “(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena” in 1985, followed by “In the Heat of the Night”. In 1986 it was “Hi! Hi! Hi!”, then “Everlasting Love” in 1987, “Heaven Can Wait” in 1988 and “Hiroshima” in 1990. Her top-rated albums are 1988′s Into a Secret Land and 1992′s Close to Seven. Between 1990 and 2001, she provided vocals on album releases of the very successful group Enigma, which had top 10 hits in America and Britain. With a unique high-pitched singing style, she has topped the charts from as far afield as Egypt, South Africa, Israel, Japan and Brazil, as well as closer to home in Sweden and France. A cult star with a devoted fan base, she remains one of the most popular singers of the 1980s in Continental Europe. With sales in excess of 30 million records worldwide, Sandra has established her position as the most successful German pop female vocalist.

Saves The Day is an American alternative rock band from Princeton, New Jersey, formed in 1994. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Conley, guitarist Arun Bali, bassist Rodrigo Palma, and drummer Claudio Rivera.
After forming under the name Sefler in 1994, Saves The Day released their debut studio album, Can’t Slow Down, in 1998. It was followed by Through Being Cool (1999), which featured their first single, “Shoulder to the Wheel”. Stay What You Are was released in 2001, peaking at number 100 on the Billboard 200. It spawned two successful music videos on MTV2, for the singles”At Your Funeral” and “Freakish”, and has since sold 300,000 copies. After the success of Stay What You Are, Saves The Day signed to Dreamworks Records, who co-released their next studio album, In Reverie, with Vagrant Records. The band stated that the label had “completely abandoned it three days after it was released”, with the album peaking at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and number 4 on the Independent Albums chart

The Dixie Dregs are an American band formed in the 1970s. Their mostly instrumental music fuses jazz, southern rock, bluegrass and classical forms in an often unique style.

Steven J. “Steve” Morse (born 28 July 1954) is an American guitarist and composer, best known as the founder of the Dixie Dregs, and the guitar player in Deep Purple since 1994. Morse’s career has encompassed rock, country, funk, jazz, classical, and fusion of these musical genres. In addition to a thriving solo career, he enjoyed a brief stint with Kansas in the mid 80s.

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE (born 2 October 1951), known by his stage name Sting, is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, actor and philanthropist. He is best known as the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist for the rock band The Police before launching a solo career.
Sting has varied his musical style, incorporating distinct elements of jazz, reggae, classical, New Age, and worldbeat into his music. As a solo musician and member of the Police, Sting has received 16 Grammy Awards for his work, receiving his first Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1981, three Brit Awards ? winning Best British Male in 1994, a Golden Globe, an Emmy Award, and several Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. The Puppini Sisters are a close harmony vocal trio composed of Italian Marcella Puppini and English Kate Mullins and Emma Smith. Although the three are not related, the name was chosen in tribute to The Andrews Sisters. Puppini first studied fashion design at St. Martins School of Art, and later music at Trinity College of Music in London where she met Mullins and original member Rosanna Schura, who was later replaced by Stephanie O’Brien.
The trio are backed by a three-piece band featuring Blake Wilner on guitar, Henrik Jensen on double bass and Peter Ibbetson on drums. After eight years with the group, O’Brien decided to leave and she was replaced by Emma Smith. Critic Arion Berger described them as part of “Retro’s futuristic vanguard” and characterized their sound as “swing-punk”. The group is associated with a burlesque revival.

The White Stripes was an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of drummer Meg White (drums and occasional vocals) and songwriter Jack White (vocals, guitar, and keyboards). Meg and Jack White were previously married to each other, but are now divorced. After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene, the White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene. Their successful and critically acclaimed albums White Blood Cells and Elephant drew them attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom, with the single “Seven Nation Army” and its now-iconic guitar riff becoming a huge hit. The band recorded a further two albums, Get Behind Me Satan in 2005 and Icky Thump in 2007. The group was dissolved in 2011 after a lengthy hiatus from performing and recording.
The White Stripes used a low-fidelity approach to writing and recording. Their music featured a melding of garage rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which featured an exclusive use of a simple color scheme of red, white, and black, which was used on every album and single cover the band released- as well as the band’s obsession with the number three. The band’s discography consists of six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays (EP), one concert film, one tour documentary, twenty-six singles, and fourteen music videos. Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Diana Jean Krall, OC, OBC (born November 16, 1964) is a Canadian jazz pianist and singer, known for her contralto vocals. She has sold more than 6 million albums in the US and over 15 million worldwide. On December 11, 2009, Billboard magazine named her the second Jazz artist of the 2000?09 decade, establishing her as one of the best-selling artists of her time. Erica Abi Wright (born February 26, 1971), better known by her stage name Erykah Badu, is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, record producer, activist and actress. Her work includes elements from R&B, hip hop and jazz. She is best known for her role in the rise of the neo soul sub-genre. She is known as the “First Lady of Neo-Soul” or the “Queen of Neo-Soul”.
Early in her career, Badu was recognizable for wearing very large and colorful headwraps. For her musical sensibilities, she has often been compared to jazz great Billie Holiday. She was a core member of the Soulquarians, and is also an actress having appeared in a number of films playing a range of supporting roles in movies such as Blues Brothers 2000, The Cider House Rules and House of D. She also speaks at length in the documentaries Before the Music Dies and “The Black Power Mixtapes”.

God is an Astronaut are an instrumental/post-rock band from the Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.After forming in 2002, God is an Astronaut took the inspiration for its name from a quote in the movie Nightbreed. God is an Astronaut’s debut albumThe End of the Beginning was released in (2002) on the Revive Records label which is independently owned by the band. The band is also signed to Rocket Girl in the United Kingdom.Two music videos for “The End of the Beginning” and “From Dust to the Beyond” produced by the band received airplay on MTV UK and on other MTV Europe networks.
All is Violent, All is Bright (2005) is the band’s second album. The single “Fragile” from the album received plays on MTV2 UK’s 120 minute show and MTV’s show The Comedown. God is an Astronaut released an EP called A Moment of Stillness in 2006. Their third album, Far from Refuge, was released in April 2007 on Revive Records and as a download via their website. Their fourth, self-titled album God Is an Astronaut was released November 7, 2008 on Revive Records. On February 12, 2010, a single was released on their website titled In The Distance Fading, the second song from their fifth album, called Age of the Fifth Sun, released on May 17, 2010.
God is an Astronaut performed at the Eurosonic Festival in 2012 when Ireland was the “Spotlight Country”.

Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are a British rock group from Birmingham, England, who released eleven studio albums between 1971 and 1986 and another album in 2001. ELO were formed to accommodate Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne’s desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. After Wood’s departure following the band’s debut record, Lynne wrote and arranged all of the group’s original compositions and produced every album. Despite early singles success in the United Kingdom, the band were initially more successful in the United States, billed as “The English guys with the big fiddles”. They soon gained a cult following despite lukewarm reviews back in their native United Kingdom. By the mid-1970s, they had become one of the biggest-selling acts in music. From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated 27 Top-40 hit singles in both the UK and the US. The group also scored 20 Top 20 UK hit singles, as well as 15 Top-20 hit singles in the US (as charted by Billboard magazine). The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits of any group in US chart history without ever having a number one single.
ELO collected 19 CRIA, 21 RIAA and 38 BPI awards, and sold over 50 million records worldwide during the group’s active period ofrecording and touring.

Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for its lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery), mythological topics (particularly Norse mythology) and for playing a lot of songs about heavy metal music, along with their “loud and bombastic” sound. In an interview for MTV in February 2007, bassist Joey DeMaio lamented that “these days, there’s a real lack of big, epic metal that is drenched with crushing guitars and choirs and orchestras… so it’s nice to be one of the few bands that’s actually doing that.” In 1984 the band was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record which they have since broken on 2 occasions. They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metal concert after playing for 5 hours and 1 minute in Bulgaria in 2008. They also have been known for their slogan “Death to false metal”.

Mark Freuder Knopfler is a British musician, vocalist, songwriter, record producer and film score composer. He is best known as the lead guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for the British rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his brother, David Knopfler in 1977. After Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler went on to record and produce seven solo albums, and like hissongs from the Dire Straits days, many produced hit songs. He has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), and Wag the Dog (1997). In addition to his work with Dire Straits and as a solo artist and composer, Knopfler has recorded and performed with many prominent musicians, including Chet Atkins, The Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry, Emmylou Harris, Jools Holland, Sonny Landreth, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, and Sting, sometimes working as a session musician. He has produced albums for Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman.
